There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, features 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that contains many comforts on top of the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
